In 1972 Dell Hymes wrote about communicative competency, from there Canale and Swain, 1980, wrote a similar piece. The main aspects of communicative competency was grammatical, discourse, sociolinguistic, and strategic.The Communicative Language Teaching Approach looks at social, cultural, and pragmatic aspects of language. Moreover, it encourages real-life conversations and communication into the classroom (Brown & Lee, 2015).
